August : A Month Off
Although I didn't mean to, I pretty much checked out for the entire month of August. Not only did one of my dear girlfriends tie the knot, but Josh & I celebrated our two year anniversary. Since I was 8 months pregnant last year on our anniversary, we decided to take advantage this time around. We spent a full ten days up in Alaska visiting one of our friends. The trip involved a lot of hiking around, fishing, and basking in the wonder that is Alaska as a whole (Some of my favorite photos from our family vacay are shown below).
Upon my return, I held one of the largest sale's I've ever had at the Nat during the So Long Summer event. After, I was almost completely sold out which meant I had to turn right around and go on a furniture buy. September on the other hand, has been a month of slowing down & digging back into work. I cannot wait to share some of the exciting things I'm planning for the Holiday Season! Stay tuned!

A trip to Round Top's Antique Week is well worth it regardless of whether you plan on buying or not. The creativity found at the Marburger show never ceases to amaze me. I mean, look at these guys!

Antique Week is Near!
Can't believe it's been an entire year since we trekked south for the famous Round Top Antiques Fair! We'll be headed out at the end of this month to stock up on more rare finds as well as some serious inspiration. I'm trying to brace myself, and my back, for 5 full days of shopping with a baby, but I'm hopeful it will be easier than last year when I was dealing with morning sickness & a belly that was just starting to show!
Over & Out
Things have been pretty quiet over here at ...from6th. Mostly in part to the busy retail season, but also because my husband & I recently trekked up north to the same spot where we tied the knot almost one year ago. It was the perfect way to unwind since I'm entering the final "stretch" of my pregnancy. Our trip consisted of a lot of fishing, swimming, and dominos. Baby must have really enjoyed that relaxation because I feel as if she doubled in size while we were away! Have any of you taken some time off this summer?
quick trip
This past week marked the beginning of my third trimester! Things have been going pretty smoothly, but there's always a bad day here & there. The Mister has been one amazing support system through these times, so as a thank you I said "let's go for it" when he asked if we could make a quick fishing trip up to Red River. It was a much needed little getaway full of sunshine, some light hiking, cook outs, flower foraging, and of course fishing!
Vanishing Architecture
The latest issue of Elle Decor had a small feature about a project opening this spring between artist Fujiko Nakaya and architect Philip Johnson. After reading the first few lines, I went scouring the web to find out more!
I remember the first time I heard about Philip Johnson was in one of my history of architecture classes back in college. We watched a documentary about his various works...like so many others, his famous Glass House and the message behind it is what resonated with me. I was often drawn to architects that had works in the area, which he did. Johnson was the design master-mind behind the Kennedy Memorial in downtown Dallas and the Water Gardens in Fort Worth.
However, I'd never heard of Fujiko Nakaya. After looking her up, I'm in awe! She was responsible for the world's first Fog Sculpture. How amazing is that?
What this all brings me to is this, who's going with me to this once in a lifetime exhibit!?!

You may all go to hell...
...and I'll go to Texas. We got our fix of Texas pride this past weekend as we made the daily commute from Bryan to the Round Top Antiques Fair. I must admit, being in south Texas during the lovely month of Bluebonnet viewing along with some of the most amazing weather really does tug on the heart strings a bit (especially when you leave Amarillo in a dust storm & return to one also).
I'm sharing a few images I snapped of various neat shops we stumbled on out in the fields, as well as some from the Marburger show. It really was an amazing trip. I'm already marking our calendar for the October show!
Happy Weekend
...and we're off! Headed to Round Top for some of the best antiquing around. It's actually my first time so if you have any pointers I'd love to hear 'em! I'll be returning just in time for the Junk Hippy Roadshow at the Amarillo Civic Center. Be sure to come see me there for first call on the new items!!!
craft overload
Per the usual, Anthropologie is showcasing some amazing displays inside & out. I wasn't even in the shopping mood while in Houston this past weekend, but of course I made an exception when it came to display viewing at the ever so trendy Highland Village.
Check it
I've just received some very exciting snail mail! A few of my sweet friends will be getting married this coming year & I can't wait to be a part of it! Both couples have great taste on top of some pretty crafty skills- let the road trip planning commence!

Sorry if you are tired of hearing me rave about our wedding photographer, but she has got some serious skills! She posted a link about Josh & I's wedding day on her website yesterday. Holy smokes- my expectations have far been exceeded! Her creativity is so inspiring, and I'm so happy that I get to witness some future events she will be shooting as well!

Happy Weekend!
Posting this a day early because we are hittin' the road tomorrow for this lovely place! We've got a rather large group of friends who all celebrate their birthdays in October so what better way to spend it then a big adventure in the Rockies!?!
fall
It's here and i'm so excited! last year we spent our time fishing up in michigan; however, we've traveled far & wide a little too much lately...which means, this season should consist of camping trips to our enchanted sister state of New Mexico, hunting & hiking at my dad's lease, & lots of fires at home (lots and lots of fires).
AMA >> DEN >> LAX >> TAI >> DPS
Yes, it was quite the travel course but definitely worth it! Josh & I recently returned from our honeymoon in Bali. Everything was absolutely beautiful! We weren't the biggest fans of our first hotel in Seminyak due to the fact that it's basically Australia's Cancun (really touristy, crowded, & the ocean areas were geared towards surfing for the most part). The next morning, we caught a ride to the opposite side of the island which was comprised of tiny fishing villages; therefore, it was a whole different experience. The days we spent there were incredible. We stayed in a little bungalow just outside of Amed (pictured in one of the photos below). What's better- we were a mere 50 yards from the sandy, black volcanic beach & were able to simply wade out, throw on our snorkel gear, & swim around the fascinating coral reef. A few days later we traveled inland to Ubud. Almost everyone I know that has been to Bali enjoyed their time in this unique city, and we were no different. The beauty I found in the rice fields and temples there were overwhelming. All in all, it was an amazing trip...We'd do it again in a heartbeat!
These water temples are tucked away everywhere behind large carved doors off the busy streets of Ubud.
A traditional Balinese wedding we stumbled on- I can still hear the music.
Drumroll please...
I must say, at the end of the day I'm pretty sure Josh and I have one of the most creative & talented groups of friends around. One of his old buddies, Scott Thurman, is an accomplished film director, and was kind enough to film our entire event. He got a little of this, a lot of that, & even pieced together three different video's for us! Meanwhile, another dear friend, Byron Flesher, took small parts of the overall footage & came up with this little flick!
The music playing over the video is by the crazy talented group that played at our reception- Appleseed Collective. Take a second to check them out, you won't be disappointed!
(See the other wedding video's on Scott's Vimeo Page Here!)

Tam Party of 2
We finally tied the knot! It seems like we were engaged forever & that the planning would never end, but alas, the day has come & gone. Everything went off without a hitch! I'm not sure we could have picked a more remote location; however, looking back on the entire event I don't think we could have done any better. The entire celebration took place way up north outside of Traverse City, Michigan. We ended up changing our reception location at the last minute to the house we had rented for our wedding party, while we held the ceremony deep in the woods on a small private lake called "Lake Five". Due to the rough path neccessary to get these locations we ended up making almost every single thing from scratch... owning an awesome shop full of awesome dealers didn't hurt either when it came time for me to round up large quantities of lace & vintage silver!
If I had to do it all over again there isn't a whole lot that I'd change. Some of the most important things that I would recommend to future couples would be this:
-Make what you can because there's a lot of money to be saved here!
-Don't stress about the food too much. We ended up having a friend cook the meal for our reception & stuck to a serve yourself style. This way people who wanted to mingle with old or new friends didn't feel pressured to sit down or even eat if they weren't in the mood.
-Find an officiate you share a personal connection with! I'm so glad we went with a friend that we both respect, value, & look up to. The words he used were not what one would commonly hear during a ceremony; however, they were personal, honest, & will resonate with Josh & I for years to come.
-Write your own vows! There's just something so special about this part. I've watched our wedding video several times now and I'm amazed at the amount of love I can hear in our voices as we speak to one another. We were apprehensive about this at first, but I'm grateful we did so in retrospect.
While I can say that I'm still insanely happy about the endeavor there are a few things I'd do differently:
-Don't send everything out too early! It's so exciting & you've got all the invitations made, sealed, & ready to go but wait. We had a destination wedding that was tricky to travel to thus we sent ours out just a bit early. Most people waited until about 2 months before to book their travel anyways so that would have been plenty of time. If there's someone you think needs more time feel free to give them a ring a bit earlier. That's what the save the dates are for after all.
-Be understanding. Although you've done your very best to accommodate everyone's schedules just know that some will have prior engagements, other personal things come up, & might just flat out forget. It happens...I'm sure we are all guilty of this at times so don't be too hard on those that do.
-In hindsight, I'd also say over-organization on my part led to a few important items getting overlooked. I'd recommend lists- Make a list of must do's, items important to you both, & one of things that you would like to get but won't be too discouraged if they fall through.
Now, with all of that said I'd like to share with you a few snapshots I have from our special day. We could not have asked for a better photographer, Kara Mercer. She is crazy talented thus super busy. We expect to get our photos back in a couple of months. These are just a few of the ones dear friends & family snapped. (I'm sure the blog with flood with others once we see what the talented lady comes up with!)
